The ICC World Twenty20 2012 Will Be The Fourth In The ICC T20 World Cup 2012
the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup 2012 T20 is an international tournament to be held in Sri Lanka between September 18 and October 7, 2012. The calendar has been published by the ICC.

Tournament is likely to be mixed round robin and Knockout.This will be the first T20 World Cup 2012 tournament held in an Asian country, the last three will be held in South Africa, England and the Caribbean, respectively.

The format will see four groups of three in a preliminary round. India and England are in the same group and will be joined by a team of associates or affiliates who qualify. The other team will be in a qualifying group with the West Indies and Australia. Sri Lanka, South Africa and Zimbabwe, and Pakistan, New Zealand and Bangladesh are the other two groups. The first World Cup T20 cricket was hosted by South Africa in 2007, when India beat Pakistan in a Twenty20 thriller to become champions. Pakistan, losing finalists in T20 Cricket World Cup 2007, beat Sri Lanka in T20 World Cup 2009 tournament to become World Champions T20 World Cup 2012, which was held in England. England became the third world Twenty20 champions by defeating Australia in the Caribbean. The ICC World Twenty20 2014 is to be held in Bangladesh.

The top two teams from each group will travel to the Super Eight stage of the competition. The super eight will consist of two groups. The top two teams from both groups would play the Super Eight semifinals and the winners of the semi-finals will contest the final would be played for Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium.The winner of this final will be crowned World Champion in Twenty20 cricket. England are the defending champions after winning the 2010 edition in the Caribbean.
